Official presentation of funds raised from AlpX and Solilauf. Donation to Parents’ Initiative for Children with Cancer in Saarland.
At a small celebration yesterday, Dieter Leinen, chairman of eurodata, handed over a cheque for 6000 EUR to the organisation team of the St. Ingbert Solilauf. In the very near future the money will be presented to the Parents’ Initiative for Children with Cancer in Saarland together with other donations.
The amount raised by eurodata came together thanks to two initiatives by the company and its employees during the past year: in the first, three IT developers cycled over the Alps, getting people to sponsor them for each kilometre they rode. In the second, more than 30 employees of the Saarbrücken-based IT enterprise were able to ‘run up’ a very considerable donation sum at the Solilauf in St. Ingbert.
“For us, social commitment is not just a phrase. It’s an important part of our corporate model”, says Dieter Leinen. “For years, we have been supporting various different social projects on location, and if it’s a question of doing something for children we’re always glad to get involved. After all, they’re the future of our society. So this time we’re very pleased that child cancer research in Saarland is benefiting from this year’s donation.”
In concrete terms, the organisers of the Solilauf support the Parents’ Initiative for Children with Cancer in Saarland, which has been campaigning for more than 30 years to help parents accompany their children as intensively as possible during the latter’s cancer therapy. The initiative is now planning to have a multi-functional building erected near the university hospital in Homburg, the funds donated by eurodata being among those applied in the project.
“We’re delighted to receive so much support from so many associations and companies in the region. And we’re all the more grateful to eurodata. For several years now they have not only been combining their mountain bike tours with sponsorship of the Solilauf; every time it comes round, they also get a large number of their employees to run. For us, that’s real commitment!” says Gabriele Strobel of the Solilauf organisation team, full of praise.
The organiser of the Solilauf is the St. Ingbert Parish of St. Pirmin and St. Michael.
